Goodspeed has thirty years of club management. 7 years as GM at The Ox Ridge Hunt Club, 4 years at LA Equestrian Center, 14 years as GM at the San Diego Polo Club, and 5 seasons as the Polo Manager at the Mashomack Polo Club in NY.
He grew all of those programs to very respectable numbers. Goodspeed credits much of his success to the experienced business minds that made up the Boards that he served for over the decades. “I had the good fortune of working alongside some of the great minds of “Fortune 500” kind of business minds who shared the passion of polo.
As a result, Goodspeed is a great source to tap to help your club.
Player Recruitment
Goodspeed understands how important it is to be continually growing new members and he knows how to market polo in your community. Polo carries a natural attrition due to the time commitment, job transfers, family requirements, and other factors. There are several strategies that Goodspeed has used successfully in growing playing rosters that all clubs can benefit from.
Player Development
Goodspeed was at the helm of the various famous LA polo school that had a roster of over a hundred students at its height. He created the polo school in San Diego that grew that club to the 5th largest roster in the country. Goodspeed knows how to help players into the game safely. “A process of only a few months if they have previous riding experience, and maybe a few years if they have not” Goodspeed is a believer in the arena as a great format for developing new interest safely. Once they have the needed confidence, they are ready to transition to outdoors if so inclined.
Polo Facilities
In his 3 decades of management, Goodspeed has had a lot of direct and indirect experience in building and improving polo facilities. He is a terrific source to have on the team when considering Capital Improvements
